Bor Artnak delivered a dominant performance on home soil to win the WTT Herz Open Litija 2026, lifting the trophy at the $15,000 event after a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Italy’s Giuseppe La Vela in the final.

The member of TK As Litija was in outstanding form throughout the entire week, not losing a single set on his way to the title. Artnak saved his best tennis for the championship match, where he gave second seed La Vela virtually no chance. After the Italian leveled the opening set at 1-1, Artnak completely took over the contest, reeling off ten consecutive games to seal an emphatic victory.

Playing aggressive and composed tennis from start to finish, the Slovenian controlled the rallies with confidence and consistency, delighting the home crowd in Litija. The triumph marks Artnak’s second title in Litija after his first success in 2024 and continues an impressive streak that has now seen him win at least one ITF World Tennis Tour tournament title in each of the past five years. Previous victories came in Sarajevo in 2022, Novi Sad in 2023, Store in 2025, and now once again in Litija.

“From the very first point I felt like I was truly playing at home, so thank you to everyone who came today and created such an amazing atmosphere,” Artnak said after the final. He also congratulated La Vela on a strong week before thanking his grandparents for supporting him throughout the tournament and the staff of TK As Litija “for all the support since I joined the club at the age of four.”

La Vela had reached the final after a hard-fought three-set semifinal win over Slovenian Ziga Sesko, who himself enjoyed an excellent week in Litija. Sesko reached the semifinals in singles and, together with Artnak, also advanced to the doubles semifinals.

Tournament director Janez Savsek praised both the sporting level and the atmosphere surrounding the event.

“The ITF Herz Open 2026 has been successfully completed. A sincere thank you to all sponsors of this year’s tournament — without your support, organizing such an event would not have been possible,” Savsek said. “On the sporting side, the tournament was extremely successful for the players of our club, which makes us especially proud. Bor Artnak won the singles title, Ziga Sesko reached the semifinals, and together they also made the doubles semifinals.”

Savsek also highlighted the strong attendance throughout the week and thanked the fans for creating a special atmosphere at the venue.

“Because of you, the tournament was even more special. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year at the ITF Herz Open 2027.”
