With the French Open currently captivating tennis fans around the world, anticipation is also building for Austria’s biggest clay-court event, the Generali Open Kitzbühel, which will take place from 18 to 25 July 2026.

Particular attention is currently focused on two Italians who are making headlines in Paris: Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli has reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, underlining his impressive rise on the ATP Tour. The charismatic Italian is now knocking on the door of the Top 10 in the live rankings. While Cobolli will make his debut appearance in Kitzbühel this summer, Berrettini already has fond memories of the Austrian tournament, having captured the title in Kitzbühel in 2024.

The entry list also features defending champion Alexander Bublik, currently ranked inside the world’s Top 10, as well as Valentin Vacherot, adding another Top-20 player to an already strong field.

Main-Draw Wild Cards for Austrian Talents

There is also positive news for Austrian tennis fans. Should Sebastian Ofner require a main-draw wild card, one has been reserved for him. The second Austrian wild card has been awarded to Joel Schwaerzler. His invitation is part of a long-term initiative by the tournament, which reached agreements with both Schwärzler and Germany’s Justin Engel last year to support their development and provide opportunities at the ATP level.

Breakthrough Stars Add Excitement

Among the rising names heading to Kitzbühel is Ignacio Buse. The 22-year-old Peruvian, who has German roots, stunned the tennis world by winning the ATP 500 event in Hamburg. Buse claimed his maiden ATP Tour title after coming through qualifying, a breakthrough achievement that propelled him significantly up the rankings.

Another player to watch is Belgium’s Raphael Collignon, who made headlines at Roland Garros by defeating world No. 5 Ben Shelton. That result will see Collignon break into the Top 50 of the ATP Rankings for the first time in his career.

Also set to compete is Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The Argentine clay-court specialist has re-established himself among the world’s Top 30 and brings a wealth of experience, consistency and proven quality on the surface.
