Taro Daniel was crowned champion of the Bratislava Open 2026 after producing a remarkable comeback to defeat top seed Alexander Shevchenko of Kazakhstan 3-6, 6-0, 7-6(2) in Sunday’s singles final.
The former world No. 58 showcased both his experience and fighting spirit in a thrilling three-set battle. After dropping the opening set, Daniel responded emphatically by dominating the second set before holding his nerve in a decisive third-set tie-break.
In a final filled with momentum swings and high-quality tennis, the 33-year-old Japanese delivered some of his best tennis when it mattered most, ultimately sealing victory after two hours and 34 minutes.

With the triumph at the Tk Slovan Bratislava, Daniel earned his 10th ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first since Taipei 2024. He earned €23,750 as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
