PIRACICABA/STARNBERG, June 16, 2026
Brazilian tennis will be strongly represented at the Copa Internacional ATP Challenger Piracicaba, a Challenger 50 tournament scheduled to take place from June 21 to 28 at Clube Cristovao Colombo. The event will offer $63,000 in prize money and 50 ATP Ranking points to the champion.
The main attraction among the Brazilian entrants is Thiago Seyboth Wild, currently ranked world No. 297, who is looking to regain his best form on the professional circuit.
Wild first rose to international prominence by winning the US Open junior title in 2018. He later fulfilled that promise by breaking into the Top 60, highlighted by victories over some of the world’s leading players and strong performances at the sport’s biggest tournaments.
One of the defining moments of his career came at Roland Garros in 2023, when he stunned then-World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the opening round. Throughout his career, the Paraná native has also recorded notable victories over players ranked significantly above him, including Taylor Fritz, then World No. 13, at the Miami Open in 2024, Karen Khachanov, then World No. 15, at Indian Wells in both 2023 and 2024, and Casper Ruud, then World No. 8, during his title-winning run at the Chile Open in 2020.
In addition to Wild, the main draw features several other prominent Brazilian players, including Eduardo Ribeiro and Matheus Pucinelli, both of whom have established themselves among the country’s leading competitors on the international circuit.
The Brazilian presence is expected to grow even further with Mateus Alves and Paulo Andre Saraiva dos Santos currently at the top of the alternate list and likely to gain entry into the main draw following withdrawals from international players.
Saraiva is enjoying one of the strongest seasons of his career, compiling consistent results on the professional circuit and making significant progress in both the ATP Rankings and the Challenger Tour throughout 2026. Meanwhile, Mateus Alves continues to be regarded as one of the brightest prospects of the new generation of Brazilian tennis.
The qualifying competition is also expected to feature a strong Brazilian contingent, including Bruno Fernandez, Jose Pereira, Lucas Andrade Silva, Wilson Leite and Nicolas Zanellato, all of whom will be aiming to secure a place in the main draw.
Part of the ATP Challenger Tour, the Piracicaba Challenger has established itself as one of the leading events on the Brazilian Challenger calendar. The tournament attracts players from around the world and provides an important opportunity for Brazilian competitors to gain valuable ranking points and experience at a high level without leaving the country.
Qualifying matches will begin on June 21, while main draw action gets underway on June 22. The tournament will conclude with the singles final on June 28 at Clube Cristovao Colombo.
