Alejandro Davidovich Fokina keeps his dream alive at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships. The Spaniard produced a brilliant comeback to defeat Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan 5–7, 6–2, 6–4 and book his place in the sixth ATP Tour final of his career — and his first on grass.
Backed by a fully engaged crowd at the Mallorca Country Club throughout the two-hour contest, the second seed confirmed his outstanding form and will now bid to capture the first ATP Tour title of his career against US-American Ethan Quinn on Saturday, not before 3:00 pm on Centre Court.
The opening set featured several momentum swings before ultimately going Marozsan’s way at the crucial moment. Davidovich created two break-point opportunities in the opening game but was unable to convert either. At 4–3, the Hungarian earned a 0–40 lead on return and held five break points in total, all of which the Spaniard saved to level at 4–4. However, at 5–6, Marozsan applied pressure once more and converted the second of his two break points to take the set.
Davidovich responded emphatically in the second set. He broke serve at the second opportunity to move ahead early and then, at 2–1, saved a break point with one of the most spectacular exchanges of the match, diving to retrieve an almost impossible ball before holding for 3–1. He struck again on return shortly afterwards, converting his second break point to extend the lead to 4–1. From there, he controlled the set with authority and wrapped it up 6–2.
The deciding set was defined by fine margins, with both players serving solidly and offering very few opportunities on return. Everything changed at 4–4. Marozsan raced to a 40–0 lead on serve, but Davidovich reeled off three consecutive points to force deuce and, on the second break-point opportunity, secured the decisive break. Serving for the match, the Spaniard made no mistake, sealing a 6–4 victory and a place in the final.

Awaiting him will be Ethan Quinn, who booked his place in the final with a dominant performance in the other semi-final. The 22-year-old US-American, currently World No. 63, dismantled Nuno Borges 6–1, 6–2 in just 56 minutes — the fastest match of this year’s Mallorca Championships. He also dropped only three games, the fewest conceded by a winner in any match at this year’s tournament.
Quinn is enjoying the best week of his career. Before arriving in Mallorca, he had never reached an ATP Tour quarter-final, but this week he has powered through to his first ATP Tour final. He has become the youngest finalist in Mallorca Championships history, surpassing Stefanos Tsitsipas, who reached the final aged 23 in 2022, and is the third American to reach the championship match after Sam Querrey (2021) and Christopher Eubanks (2023).
Regardless of Saturday’s result, Quinn will climb 16 places in the ATP Rankings on Monday and return to the Top 50 at world No. 47.
