Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will always hold the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships close to his heart. The 27-year-old Spaniard captured his first ATP Tour title after defeating Ethan Quinn from the United States 7-6(4), 6-3 in a thrilling final at the Mallorca Country Club, backed by a packed and passionate crowd.

The victory marks a major milestone in his career, making him the first Spaniard to win the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships and the third Spanish champion this season, alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Jodar. The match was decided by fine margins. After a tightly contested opening set that went to a tie-break—where Davidovich Fokina delivered his best tennis in the key moments—the world No. 25 struck in the second set with a decisive break. His solid serving and ability to handle pressure proved crucial as he confidently closed out the match.

Following the final, the trophy ceremony took place with the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmes, and Vanda Pharmaceuticals Vice President Vasilios Polymeropoulos presenting the trophy. Davidovich Fokina was also awarded an exclusive ring by Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of emotion group—a handcrafted silver piece set with a natural blue sapphire (3.011 carats).

“Grateful and proud to leave my mark on this tournament”

After lifting the trophy, Davidovich Fokina highlighted the importance of the win for his career. He described it as “a very positive week” in which he managed to “break through a barrier in finals,” giving him “a lot of confidence to keep working with my team, to keep believing, and to aim high.” He also emphasized the emotional significance of the achievement, saying he felt “very grateful and proud to leave my mark on this tournament,” as the first Spaniard to triumph in Mallorca in the past 25 years. There will be little time to celebrate, however, with Wimbledon immediately ahead: “We’ll enjoy it on the flight to Wimbledon. We’ll play some cards—that will be our celebration, as we travel tonight,” he added.

Doubles champions

In the doubles event, the French duo of Theo Arribage and Albano Olivetti claimed the title, defeating Andre Goransson and Evan King 7-6(7), 3-6, 11-9 in an exciting match tie-break. The day also brought the MC Teen competition to a close. US-American Lyla Wood won the girls’ title with a commanding victory over Adriana Cordoba, while Joan Suau claimed the boys’ crown after coming from a set down to defeat Hugo Bassols in an all-Spanish final.
