BERGAMO/STARNBERG, June 27, 2026
Experience has been the defining theme of this year’s Trofeo TNB-Azimut, and it will also headline Sunday’s championship match. Federico Arnaboldi and Giovanni Oradini, two of the most consistent performers on the ITF World Tennis Tour and regular competitors on the ATP Challenger Circuit, will contest the final of the $15,000 clay-court event at Tennis Club Citta dei Mille.
The championship match will begin at 10:00 a.m., with organisers opting for an early start to avoid the hottest part of the day. Spectators can look forward to a high-quality encounter between two players who have produced the strongest tennis of the week.
Arnaboldi arrives in the final with an impressive résumé that includes the 2024 ATP Challenger title in Verona. The 26-year-old Italian is also a former Bergamo champion, having claimed his first ITF Pro Circuit title at Tennis Club Citta dei Mille in 2021, a run that notably included a victory over Matteo Arnaldi, now a Roland Garros semi-finalist.
Oradini booked his place in the final with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory over Pietro Romeo Scomparin. After a few games to settle into the match, the former Mississippi State University standout took complete control to reach the 12th professional final of his career. The 28-year-old Italian holds a 5-6 record in previous finals and will be aiming to lift his first trophy since winning the title in Selva Val Gardena almost two years ago.
The second semi-final featured one of the tournament’s most anticipated clashes, as Arnaboldi ended Fausto Tabacco‘s outstanding run with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory. Tabacco entered the match on the back of 12 wins in June, but Arnaboldi’s superior ball striking and consistency proved decisive. Although the Sicilian raised his level in the second set, a single break in the fifth game was enough for Arnaboldi to seal his place in the final.
For Arnaboldi, it will be the 13th final of his career, including two at Challenger level. Just over a year ago, he reached a career-high ATP ranking of No. 183 and was competing in the Wimbledon qualifying draw before enduring a difficult spell that included an 11-match losing streak. Since then, the Italian has rebuilt his confidence by returning to the ITF circuit and is now enjoying an impressive resurgence. Currently ranked No. 586 in the world, he has no ranking points to defend over the coming months, leaving plenty of room to climb the ATP Rankings once again.
History also favours Arnaboldi heading into Sunday’s final. He has won all four previous meetings against Oradini in straight sets, with Oradini never managing more than four games in any of the eight sets they have contested. Their most recent encounter, played two months ago in Santa Margherita di Pula, ended in another convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory for Arnaboldi.
The final promises an intriguing test of whether Oradini can finally overturn a matchup that has consistently favoured his compatriot.
Meanwhile, the doubles title has already been decided. Jacopo Bilardo and Alessandro Ingarao lifted the trophy after defeating fellow Italians Lorenzo Bocchi and Alessio De Bernardis in an all-Italian championship match.
