Inaki Montes-de la Torre captured his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour by winning the inaugural Plovdiv Challenger. The No. 5 seed of the clay-court tournament outlasted seventh-seeded Austrian Sandro Kopp 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-6(8) in Saturday’s singles final.
Montes-de la Torre broke his rival’s serve four times, won two points less than Kopp but secured victory in three hours and 22 minutes.

Following six triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour, two of them this season on home soil in Badalona and Angers, France, the 23-year-old Spaniard lifted his maiden trophy on the Challenger Circuit.
Montes-de la Torre earned €8,550 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
The Plovdiv Challenger offered a total prize pool of €56,700 and was hosted by the Tennis Club Lokomotiv. Plovdiv is one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, with a history spanning more than 8,000 years.
