Ryan Nijboer was crowned champion of the 62nd Torneo Dionisio Nespral. The top seed of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event in Gijon, Spain defeated fellow Dutchman and No. 3 seed Sander Jong 6-3, 6-1 in Saturday’s singles final.
Nijboer was in total control of the encounter. The world No. 532 capitalized on five of his 15 break-point chances and won 57 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 39 minutes.
Nijboer captured his sixth career title on the Pro Circuit, his second in as many weeks after his triumph at the Copa Alameda in Madrid, and his third on Spanish soil this season. He earned €4,150.80 in prize money as well as 25 ATP Ranking points.
