CHENGDU, September 20, 2026
The stage is set for the eighth edition of the Chengdu Open, with an exciting international field confirmed for the ATP 250 event at the Sichuan International Tennis Centre from 22 to 29 September, where USD 1,210,115 in prize money will be on offer.
The singles main draw will feature 28 players, comprising 20 direct acceptances, one Next Gen spot, three wild cards and four qualifiers. With the direct-entry cut-off currently at World No. 97, the field includes seven players ranked inside the world’s top 50 and representatives from 14 nations. The United States and Argentina lead the international contingent with three players each, followed by France and the Netherlands with two apiece.
Leading the entry list is World No. 23 Valentin Vacherot of Monaco, who enjoyed a sensational breakthrough in Asia last year when he progressed from qualifying to capture his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title in Shanghai. He is followed by Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and defending Chengdu Open champion Alejandro Tabilo of Chile, who saved two championship points in a dramatic final last year. Tabilo will return looking to become the first player in Chengdu Open history to successfully defend the singles crown.
Also among the leading entries are Portugal’s Nuno Borges, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz and Canada’s Denis Shapovalov, with Argentines Sebastian Baez and Juan Manuel Cerundolo rounding out the current top eight.
Chengdu fans will also have their first opportunity to see exciting French teenager Moise Kouame, who attracted considerable attention during his run to the third round at Roland Garros earlier this year. The 17-year-old earns a place directly in the main draw through the Next Gen Accelerator programme.
Continuing its support for the development of Chinese tennis, the tournament has awarded its three singles main-draw wild cards to Juncheng “Jerry” Shang, who captured the Chengdu Open trophy in 2024 to become the first Chinese man to win an ATP Tour singles title on home soil, as well as Yi Zhou and Jia Hu.

The singles qualifying draw will feature 16 players competing for four places in the main draw. Two qualifying wild cards have been awarded to local Chinese talents Lu Hanlei and Linang Xiao.
