ROTTERDAM, November 3, 2026 (Media Release)
Daniil Medvedev will return to the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam in 2027. Following Carlos Alcaraz, Alex de Minaur and Felix Auger-Aliassime, the former world No. 1 is the fourth former tournament champion to confirm his participation in the ATP 500 event, which will be held from 6 to 14 February at Rotterdam Ahoy.
“Former world No. 1, Grand Slam champion and tournament winner in Rotterdam. There are not many active players who fit that description. That is why we are delighted that Daniil Medvedev has confirmed that he will return to the ABN AMRO Open in 2027,” said tournament director Richard Krajicek.
Grand Slam champion
Medvedev is one of the leading hard-court players on the ATP Tour. Of the 25 titles he has won, 23 have come on the same surface used at the ABN AMRO Open. His greatest achievement remains his 2021 US Open triumph. Six Masters titles and runner-up finishes at the US Open in 2019 and 2023, as well as the Australian Open in 2021, 2022 and 2024, further underline his credentials.
This year, Medvedev has already captured four titles, helping him return to the world’s top five.
The 2027 edition will mark his eighth appearance in Rotterdam. His most successful campaign came in 2023, during the tournament’s anniversary edition, when he claimed the title with victories over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Botic van de Zandschulp, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Grigor Dimitrov and Jannik Sinner.
“Everyone in the Netherlands loves sport. Everyone loves tennis. Rotterdam has been good to me. I’m looking forward to coming back,” Medvedev said.
Strong early line-up for 2027
With the addition of Medvedev, four former ABN AMRO Open champions have now confirmed their participation. Alcaraz won the title in 2025, de Minaur triumphed in 2026 and Auger-Aliassime lifted the trophy in 2022. Medvedev is also the third player from the current ATP Rankings top 10 to join the field.
“The last two winners of the ABN AMRO Open. Two players who have been world No. 1. Three players from the top 10. Whichever way you look at it, we have a fantastic foundation for a great edition in 2027,” Krajicek said.
