Danylo Kalenichenko captured his first ITF Future title, winning the 11th edition of the $10,000 Dittelbrunn Open on Sunday. The seventh seed from the Ukraine rallied past the tournament’s number two Marek Jaloviec of the Czech Republic in three sets.

In a match between two 22-year-olds with a similar game style, Kalenichenko was the more disciplined and focused player, whereas Jaloviec, who has suffered from a cold during the entire week, got more distracted by occurences off the court.

Kalenichenko, who appeared in his first Pro Circuit final, had a nervous start into the match and lost his serve in the fourth game. Jaloviec took the opening set 6-3 but the world number 656 from the Ukraine improved his level of play and set the tone early in the second frame. He broke serve in the second game and sealed the set, winning 6-1. In an even decider, Kalenichenko gained the decisive break in the 11th game to serve the match out in the following with his 18th ace. 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 was the final scoreline after one hour and 47 minutes.

Kalenichenko earns $1,440 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. The ITF indoor swing in Germany continues next week with the $10,000 event in Oberhaching.
