Two Polish players advanced to the second round of the qualifying at the €85,000 Wroclaw Open. Szymon Walkow fought past Vladyslav Manafov from the Ukraine, rallying 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old Wroclaw resident withstood 16 aces, hitting seven of his own to secure victory in one hour and 30 minutes.
Szymon will face his fellow compatriot Andriej Kapas for a spot in the main draw. Kapas defeated Dominik Kellowvsky from the Czech Republic 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. The World No. 431 didn’t face a break point, converting two of his own to prevail in two hours and four minutes.
The final round of the qualifying as well as the start of the main draw will take place on Monday at Hala Orbita.
