Qualifiers Complete Wroclaw Open Main Draw

WROCLAW, February 27, 2017

The first matches of the opening round at the €85,000 Wroclaw Open kicked off main draw action at Hala Orbita on Monday. Zdenek Kolar caused the caused the upset of the day, knocking out the tournament’s number five Ilya Ivashka from Belarus with a 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 victory.

The 20-year-old from the Czech Republic withstood 18 aces, hitting eight of his own and capitalized on three of his six break point chances to prevail after two hours and 28 minutes. Kolar will next take on Jonathan Eysseric. The 26-year-old Frenchman fought past Wroclaw native Hubert Hurkacz 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 in one hour and 38 minutes.

Stefan Ofner set a second round clash with top seed Paul-Henri Mathieu of France. The World No. 281 from Austria defeated Edward Corrie of Great Britain 7-6, 6-2 in 68 minutes.

Qualifiers Complete Main Draw

Mats Moraing of Germany, Czech Marek Jaloviec, Yann Marti from Switzerland and Andriej Kapas are the four qualifiers. The latter emerged victorious from the all-Polish affair with Wroclaw native Szymon Walkow, rallying 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 53 minutes.
