Vesely To Face Delbonis In Prostejov Challenger Final

Jiri Vesely and Federico Delbonis will compete in Saturday’s singles final of the €127,000 Unicredit Czech Open in Prosetejov.

Vesely gained a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 win over US-American Tennys Sandgren. The 23-year-old from the Czech Republic didn’t face a break point, converting four of his own to advance to his fourth final at Prostejov in 69 minutes.

“It was definetely my best performance of the week,” the champion from 2014 and 2015 told. “I didn’t make a lot of unforced errors and I really feel good.”

Vesely will take on Delbonis for the third time. Their head-to-head record is tied at 1-1. The 26-year-old Argentine emerged victorious from their last meeting in Miami two years ago.

On Friday, Delbonis ended the great run of Swedish qualifier Markus Eriksson, winning 7-5, 7-5. Delbonis sent down nine aces and capitalized on three of his seven break point chances to prevail in one hour and 31 minutes.

Earlier in the day, Argentines Guillermo Duran and Andres Molteni captured the doubles title with a 7-6, 6-7, 10-6 win over Roman Jebavy from the Czech Republic and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo of Chile. The encounter lasted one hour and 54 minutes.
