GETXO, July 9, 2017
Bernabé Zapata-Miralles‘ great form continues as he captured his second title of the season, winning Saturday’s final of the $25,000 XXVII TORNEO INTERNACIONAL DE TENIS DE GETXO, held at the Real Club Jolaseta. The 20-year-old emerged victorious from the all-Spanish affair with third seed Carlos Taberner, scoring a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win.
Zapata-Miralles, who was seeded sixth in the province of Biscay, saved three of the seven break points he faced, capitalizing on five of his own to seal victory in one hour and 58 minutes.
The World No. 370 lifted the trophy at the ITF Futures in Kaltenkirchen two weeks ago. He also advanced to the semi-finals in Bakio last week.
By clinching his seventh title on the ITF Pro Circuit, Zapata-Miralles takes away $3,600 in prize money as well as 25 ATP ranking points. He is projected to reach a new career high at World No. 304.
On Friday, third seeds Ivan Gakhov from Russia and Spaniard David Vega Hernandez took the doubles crown, rallying past Juan Lizariturry and Carlos Gomez-Herrera of Spain 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 in the final.
