AIX-EN-PROVENCE, May 3, 2015
The press conference ahead of the second edition of the Open du Pays d’Aix Caisse d’Epargne Trophy took place under the sun at the country club of Aix-en-Provence last Saturday.
Arnaud Clement, tournament director of the € 64.000,- ATP Challenger event, thanked all those, who participated in the implementation of the new edition.
The main draw features three players ranked inside the top 100 with world number 77 Blaz Kavcic as the tournament’s favourite. The Slovenian will take on John Millman in the opening round for their first tour meeting.
Second seed is Tunisian world number 84 Malek Jaziri, only player from Africa within the top 100, facing Estonian Jurgen Zopp in his first match. The only previous meeting between the two was in Wimbledon 2012, with the Tunisian winning in three sets.
Only 21-year-old Lucas Pouille will be seeded third and will take on wild card Quentin Halys in an all-French-affair. Both players met in St. Brieuc earlier this season and Pouille emerged victorious winning the tie-break of the final set.
German Florian Mayer will continue his comeback trail taking on sixth seed Norbert Gombos and former world number 12 Paul-Henri Mathieu faces Gastao Elias from Portugal.
