Swedish teenager Mikael Ymer continued his great run on home soil at the €43,000 Bastad Challenger, showing his talent in his second round match against seventh seeded Spaniard Roberto Carballés-Baena on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old, who is coached by Peter Lundgren, beat his more than 200 places higher ranked opponent in an impressive way, rallying back from a set down 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Mikael saved eight of the 12 break points he faced, converting six of his own to prevail after two hours and 53 minutes. He will next challenge second seed Renzo Olivo from Argentina, who defeated Swedish qualifier Isak Arvidsson 7-5, 7-6.

Mikael will be joined by his older brother Elias Ymer, who knocked out the tournament’s number six Arthur de Greef from Belgium 6-3, 6-1. The World No. 269 sent down four aces, winning 70 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in 63 minutes.

Next up for Elias, who has joined forces with Robin Söderling, will be top seed Dusan Lajovic of Serbia, who eased past Belgian Kimmer Coppejans 6-2, 6-3 in just over one hour of play.
