KITZBÜHEL, July 28, 2017
David Ferrer has pulled out of next week’s Generali Open in Kitzbühel, after doctors advised him to take a period of rest after his efforts at the Swedish Open in Bastad and the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg.
“I played a couple of matches in a row and I am dealing with an inflammation of the Achilles tendon,” told Ferrer, who captured his 27th ATP World Tour crown in Sweden and advanced to the second round in Hamburg, where he lost to Federico Delbonis on Thursday.
“Obviously this means that I am going to miss the tournament in Kitzbühel but I hope to get the chance of playing here in the future.”
The qualifying of the ATP 250 event starts Saturday. Main draw ceremony will be held in the centre of Kitzbühel the same day.
