STARNBERG, August 4, 2017
Stan Wawrinka announced Friday that he withdraws from the rest of the 2017 season in order to recover from a long-term knee injury. The 32-year-old Swiss finished the year with a 26-11 match record, including one ATP World Tour title at the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open, beating Mischa Zverev in the final.
The defending US Open champion will also miss the final Grand Slam event of the year. Germany’s Florian Mayer has moved into the main draw.
