The 32-man-field at the €43,000 Zavarovalnica Sava Slovenia Open has been whittled down to four. Aldin Setkic rallied past Pedro Martínez Portero of Spain 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 on a rain-interrupted Thursday in Portoroz to reach the semi-final.
The 29-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina sent down eight aces, winning 74 per cent of his first service points to prevail after exactly three hours of play. Next up for Setkic will be #NextGenATP Italian Matteo Berrettini, who continues his good form with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ilya Ivashka of Belarus. The encounter lasted one hour and 28 minutes.
Greece teenager Stefanos Tsitsipas overcame Croatian qualifier Franko Skugor 7-6, 7-6 in one two hours and 24 minutes to face the last seeded player left in the singles draw in the stage of the final four. In the final match of the day on centre court, which finished after midnight, Sergiy Stakhovsky defeated Filip Krajinovic from Serbia 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. The third favourite broke serve three times to seal victory in one hour and 37 minutes.
