All of the top-ranked players in the qualifying draw at the €43,000 Bucher Reisen Tennis Grand Prix, held on clay courts at the GWR Büderich in Meerbusch, advanced to final stage on Sunday.
Top-seed Kimmer Coppejans rallied past Miliaan Niesten from the Netherlands 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. The World No. 283 from Belgium capitalized on nine of his 14 break point chances to prevail after three hours and 16 minutes. Coppejans will take on Richard Gabb of Great Britain for a spot in the main draw.
Andre Ghem emerged victorious from the all-Brazilian-affair with Eduardo Dischinger, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours and 13 minutes. The second seed from Porto Alegre will next face Argentine Juan Ignacio Galarza.
Markus Eriksson defeated Jonas Luetjen from Germany 6-3, 6-3. The qualifying’s number three from Sweden won 79 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 20 minutes. Eriksson will play Russia’s Philipp Davydenko next.
Alongside the final stage of the qualifying, main draw action will start on Monday with top-seed and defending champion Florian Mayer to open his title bid against Yannik Reuter from Belgium.
