Elias Ymer completed the quarterfinal line-up of the €64,000 Acqua Dolomia Tennis Cup on Thursday evening at the Eurosporting Complex in Cordenons. The 21-year-old from Sweden eased past the tournament’s number three Adam Pavlasek from the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-1.
Ymer won 78 per cent of his first service points and broke serve four times to advance in only 62 minutes. The World No. 279 looks to book his first semi-final of the season, taking on Pedro Martínez Portero of Spain. The 20-year-old knocked out eighth seeded Italian Andrea Arnaboldi 7-6, 6-1 in one hour and 49 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Lorenzo Giustino fought past Spanish veteran Daniel Munoz de la Nava 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. The sixth favourite recovered from a slow start to prevail after two hours and 13 minutes. Giustino will next face fellow Italian Andrea Pellegrino.
The 20-year-old wild card entry overcame Danilo Petrovic from Serbia 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the longest match of the day. The encounter lasted two hours and 20 minutes. Pellegrino will appaear in the stage of the final eight on the ATP Challenger Tour for the only second time after reaching the quarterfinals in Rome last year.
