Tennis Canada announced on Tuesday that single day tickets for Canada’s upcoming Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group play-off tie in Edmonton will go on sale Wednesday August 23. Taking place September 15-17 at Northlands Coliseum, Canada will take on India for the right to stay in the upper echelon of Davis Cup competition in 2018. Tickets will be available for as low as $25.
“The team is looking forward to playing in Edmonton and we really want to use our home court to our advantage,” said Canadian Davis Cup team captain Martin Laurendeau. “We have been a World Group nation for six years now and our goal next month will be to win and earn another chance to play for the Davis Cup title in 2018. We’ll definitely need support from our amazing Canadian fans, and hope to see lots of people out there cheering us on.”
The four players set to compete in Edmonton for Canada will be selected by Laurendeau closer to the tie. Many players have represented Canada in Davis Cup in recent years, including Frank Dancevic, Daniel Nestor, Filip Peliwo, Peter Polansky, Vasek Pospisil, Milos Raonic, Adil Shamasdin, and Denis Shapovalov.
Davis Cup by BNP Paribas is the largest annual international team competition in sport, with 134 nations participating in 2017. The prestigious Davis Cup trophy has been handed out since 1900. Only the Top 16 nations qualify for the World Group each year, and thus the right to compete for the Davis Cup title.
Single day tickets will go on sale Wednesday August 23 at 10 a.m. MT and start at $25. A limited number of series tickets will remain available as well, offering the best price to attend all three days of tennis. Tickets are available for purchase at Ticketmaster.
