Pedro Sousa captured the singles title of the €43,000 Torneo Città di Como – Trofeo “Intensa SanPaolo”. The 29-year-old from Portugal battled past top seeded Italian Marco Cecchinato 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in Sunday’s final.
In the pair’s first meeting, Sousa won three points less than his opponent but broke serve four times to secure victory in one hour and 41 minutes. The World No. 127 clinched his third ATP Challenger career crown, following his triumphs in Francavilla and Liberec earlier this season.
Sousa earns €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.
