Australia’s John Peers and Jordan Thompson have led Australia to a 2-1 lead over Belgium in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas semi-finals on day two at Palais 12 in Brussels.

Peers and Thompson comfortably defeated the host nation’s Arthur De Greef and Ruben Bemelmans in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 in just one hour and 36 minutes.

“That was pretty clinical, the boys came out and executed brilliantly,” Australia’s Davis Cup Lleyton Hewitt told.

The reverse singles will be played on Sunday with the No.1 singles players from both teams set to do battle. World No.20 Nick Kyrgios faces world No.12 David Goffin before John Millman goes up against Steve Darcis.

Australia needs to win one more rubber to seal a Davis Cup final berth for the first time in 14 years.

A win over Belgium would see Australia host the final at home in late November against the winner of France and Serbia. Currently France leads Serbia 2-1 in the other Davis Cup semi-final.
