STOCKHOLM, October 21, 2017

Top seed Grigor Dimitrov and fourth favourite Juan Martin del Potro will clash in Sunday’s final of the Intrum Stockholm Open.

Dimitrov edged past Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-3, 7-6. The World No. 8 from Bulgaria converted three of his five break point chances to advance in one hour and 27 minutes.

“It’s another final. That’s all I can ask for,” said Dimitrov, who clinched three trophies this season in Brisbane, Sofia and Cincinnati. “It’s very tricky playing against Fabio. After such a good first set from me, he took the lead in the second, so I had to uplift myself a little bit, trying to stay as positive as I can, and it was a great tie-break as well.”

Del Potro Overcomes Verdasco

Stockholm Open defending champion Del Potro rallied from a set down to overcome Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. The 29-year-old from Argentina sent down five aces, winning 71 per cent of his first service points to prevail after two hours and 42 minutes.
