Marvin Möller captured his maiden title on the ITF Pro Circuit, winning Sunday’s singles final of the $15,000 NTV-ITF Future Nord, held on carpet at the LAZ Niedersaechsischer Tennisverband in Bad Salzdetfurth.
The 18-year-old German upset the tournament’s top seed Evgeny Karlovskiy of Russia 6-3, 5-7, 7-5. Möller withstood 10 aces, hitting three of his own and broke serve three times to prevail after two hours and 37 minutes.
“This is incredible and I am more than happy,” told Möller afterwards. “He will gain some confidence from the victory,” Möller’s coach Guido Fratzke added.
The teenager, who enterd the main draw with a wild card, takes away €1,944 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. Next up for Möller will be the Tennis Future Hamburg.
