SUZHOU, October 29, 2017
Miomir Kecmanovic takes his first ATP Challenger crown at the 2017 China International Suzhou, which has been held annually on hard courts in the southeastern Jiangsu Province since 2015. The 18-year-old from Serbia beat third seed Radu Albot from Moldova 6-3, 6-4 in Sunday’s final.
Kecmanovic, who did not drop a set en-route to the title, capitalized on five of his six break point chances to finish the encounter in one hour and 24 minutes.
The Belgrade native earns $10,800 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points to reach a new career high on Monday at World No. 209. Kecmanovic clinched his fourth title of the season after he had lifted three ITF Pro Circuit trophies earlier this year. He is the 14th teenage winner on the ATP Challenger Tour in 2017.
On Saturday, Xin Gao and Fajing Sun emerged victorious from an all-Chinese doubles final with Mao-Xin Gong and Ze Zhang. The unseeded tandem won 7-6, 4-6, 10-7 in one hour and 39 minutes. Gao and Sun split $4,650 and take away 80 ATP ranking points.
