BRESCIA, November 19, 2017
Lukas Lacko clinched his second consecutive ATP Challenger title, winning the €43,000 Internazionali Città di Brescia on Sunday. The fourth seed from Slovakia, who lifted the trophy on home soil in Bratislava last week, eased past Laurynas Grigelis 6-1, 6-2 in the singels final.
Lacko struck 12 aces, didn’t face a break point and capitalized on four of his own to prevail after only 45 minutes of play. The 30-year-old Bratislava resident celebrated his 10th win on the ATP Challenger Tour, his second of the season.
“Second week, second title. Great way to finish the season. I played very well in Brescia,” Lacko stated on his facebook page and added: “Thanks to the fans and my family for the support. I hope to start the new season the same good way.”
Lacko takes away €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points to return to the Top 100 on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Sander Arends from the Netherlands and Sander Gille of Belgium cruised past Luca Margaroli from Switzerland and Austrian Tristan-Samuel Weissborn 6-2, 6-3 to take the doubles crown. The encounter lasted only 47 minutes.
