Taro Daniel is the champion of the 37th edition of the ATP Challenger in Fürth. In a pretty quick final, the 22-year-old Japanese defeated Albert Montaῆes, winning 6-3, 6-0.

On another hot and sunny day, the 34-year-old Spaniard, seemed to be a bit physically down, but had the better start into the final and capitalized on his first break point in the third game. Daniel, who was born in New York and is coached by Spaniard José Altur, was more solid from the baseline and convinced with great footwork. The world number 168, gained the immediate re-break and another one in the sixth game to take the opening set after 36 minutes.

Montaῆes hit too many unforced errors, five double faults and could only win 27% of his second service points. Consequently, Daniel closed the match out after 65 minutes to capture his second ATP Challenger title following his victory in Vercelli in April this year.

“I had a positive week here in Fürth, but Taro was just better than me today. Congrats to him,” Montaῆes was a fair loser afterwards.

Earlier the day, Argentine tandem of Guillermo Duran and Horacio Zeballos claimed the doubles title, wining 6-1, 6-3 in 51 minutes against Inigo Cervantes and Renzo Olivo.
