Moutet Versus Miss France

Corentin Moutet

STARNBERG, December 18, 2017

Corentin Moutet is one of the most promising young players in France, who is known for an emotional game on the court. This time the 18-year-old has made a clear statement off the courts concerning beauty pageants.

“Women are not objects. Stop the Miss competitions, where girls present themselves as pieces of meat. I think this is embarrassing,” Moutet tweeted on Saturday after French model Maëva Coucke was crowned Miss France 2018. The show was broadcasted on national television.

Career-Best Season

Moutet clinched three ITF Pro Circuit titles this season and lifted his maiden ATP Challenger crown in Brest. The current World No. 156 became the fourth player born in 1999 with an ATP Challenger title, after Denis Shapovalov, Yibing Wu and Miomir Kecmanovic.

Earlier this month, the French Tennis Federation annouced that Moutet will receive a wildcard into the upcoming Australian Open, making his Grand Slam debut.
