KOBLENZ, December 19, 2017
Ernests Gulbis and Marco Cecchinato are the latest additions to the line-up of the second edition of the Koblenz Open, which already features NextGen ATP stars Yibing Wu of China, Spanish teenager Nicola Kuhn and Norwegian Casper Ruud, defending champion Ruben Bemelmans, Jurgen Zopp from Estonia as well as local favourites Dustin Brown, Jan Choinski and Yannick Maden. The €43,000 ATP Challenger tournament will be held from 16th to 21th January 2018 at the Conlog Arena.
Three years ago, Gulbis was ranked inside the top 10 of the ATP rankings and advanced to the semi-finals of the French Open but had to deal with injuries in recent times. The 29-year-old from Latvia captured six ATP World Tour titles but was also successful at ATP Challenger level. Gulbis lifted four trophies, one on German soil at the ATP Challenger in Eckental in 2006. The current World No. 200 earned a total prize money of almost $6.5 million.
Ceccinato clinched the last of his overall four ATP Challenger titles on home soil in Rome this year. The World No. 110 from Sicily eyes re-entering the Top 100.
