The 32-man draw of the Südwestbank Tennis Grand Prix has been whittled down to the final eight. Coburg native Kevin Krawietz knocked out top seed Jan Choinski from Koblenz in an all-German-affair on Thursday afternoon at the Tennis King Academy in Schwieberdingen.

In the pairs first meeting, Krawietz struck eight aces, winning 80 per cent of his first service points to secure a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 victory in one hour and 54 minutes. The World No. 584 will next take on Patrik Nema. The 20-year-old from Slovakia, who made it into two ITF Futures finals in Egypt last year, beat Austrian qualifier Jakob Aichhorn 6-3, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 12 minutes.

Second seed Daniel Masur remains the highest ranked player in the singles draw of the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit event. The 23-year-old German advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Swedish qualifier Marcus Mansson. Masur withstood 13 aces, breaking his opponent’s serve twice to prevail after one hour and 28 minutes. The World No. 347, who lifted the trophy in Schwieberdingen two years ago, will next face compatriot and seventh favourite Elmar Ejupovic.

Bracciali/Motti Fall In Second Round 

Daniele Bracciali‘s comeback to the tennis tour in Schwieberdingen has come to an early end. The 40-year-old Italian, who reached a career high World No. 49 in the ATP doubles ranking, was banned in 2015 for being involved in match-fixing but is allowed to compete at ITF Pro Circuit events. He played his last tournament in August last year in Piombino.

Bracciali entered the doubles draw of the Südwestbank Tennis Grand Prix with his protected ranking, teaming up with fellow Italian Alessandro Motti. The pair received a walkover in the first round but lost in the second round against Frenchman Sebastien Boltz and Kai Wehnelt of Germany 7-5, 6-3.
