Vasek Pospisil and Ricardas Berankis will compete in Sunday’s final of the €64,000 Open de Rennes, held at the Salle Colette-Besson. Pospisil edged past French qualifier Antoine Hoang 6-4, 7-6.
The No. 2 seed from Canada fired 10 aces, winning 77 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 43 minutes.
Berankis defeated Liam Broady of Great Britain 7-5, 6-1. The seventh favourite from Lithuania capitalized on three of his eight break point chances to advance in one hour and 18 minutes.
Their head-to-head record is tied at 2-2. Berankis won the last meeting between the two in Halle in 2015. The World No. 136 from Vilnius eyes winning his ninth ATP Challenger title. Pospisil could lift his sixth trophy.
