Germany take a 2-1 lead at the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round tie over Australia in Brisbane.
After a lengthy three hours and 17 minutes Tim Pütz and Jan-Lennard Struff overcame Matthew Ebden and John Peers 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-4. The Aussies fought hard to stay in it but the Germans, who broke their opponents’ serve five times, were just the better pair on Saturday afternoon in front 5,659 spectators at Pat Rafter Arena.

Kyrgios To Face Zverev On Sunday
It will all be on Nick Kyrgios tomorrow to keep the tie alive for Australia when he faces world No.5 Alexander Zverev in the first reverse singles rubber on Sunday.
The 22-year-old from Canberra leads 5-1 in their head-to-head records. Kyrgios also won their last meeting in the semi-finals in Beijing last year.
“We played juniors together, we grew up together… and we’re good mates so ranking and stuff goes out the window with us,’’ said Kyrgios, of Zverev. “I don’t mind playing him. We both know what we bring. I had some luck against him last year and that’s all it is. I know how to play against him, he knows how to play against me.’’
