The two top seeds at the third edition of the Tennis Pro Open Aargau, a $25,000 ITF Futures event held on indoor carpet at the Tennisschule Aarau-West in Oberentfelden, headlined Wednesday’s action but fell in the opening round.
Gregoire Jacq of France knocked out No. 1 seed Christopher Heyman from Belgium 6-4, 7-5. The 25-year-old capitalized on three of his five break point chances to advance in one hour and 37 minutes. Jacq will next challenge Swiss wild card entry Alexander Ritschard.
Sami Reinwein upset the tournament’s No. 2 Jan Choinski in an all-German-affair 6-4, 7-5. The World No. 613 sent down five aces, winning 70 per cent of his first service points to prevail after two hours and 11 minutes. Reinwill will next face qualifier Yannik Steinegger from Switzerland.

The highest ranked player left in the singles draw is Andrea Basso. The 25-year-old lefty from Italy will play French qualifier Maxime Tchoutakian.
Later in the evening, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who clinched the 2017 Wimbledon Championships Boys’ singles title, won 69 of the 121 total points played against Swiss qualifier Vullnet Tashi to secure victory in one hour and 20 minutes.
The 18-year-old from Malaga arrived in Switzerland after being a sparring partner in Spain’s Davis Cup squad in their first round tie against Great Britain. Next up for Davidovich will be German qualifier Valentin Günther.
