Three Italians advanced to the semi-finals of the €64,000 Internazionali di Tennis Trofeo Faip-Perrel in Bergamo, led by World No. 121 Matteo Berrettini. The top seed of the ATP Challenger event edged past compatriot Salvatore Caruso 7-6, 7-5 on Friday evening.
Berrettini sent down five aces, winning 80 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 52 minutes. Berrettini will next face Jurgen Zopp. The No. 3 seed from Estonia defeated Adam Pavlasek from the Czech Republic 6-4, 7-5 in one hour and 20 minutes.

Lorenzo Sonego will take on Stefano Napolitano in an all-Italian-battle. Sonego fought past Mohamed Safwat of Egypt 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. The No. 5 seed didn’t face a break point, converting three of his own to prevail after w-o hours and 10 minutes. Napolitano came back from a set down to overcome fellow Italian Andrea Arnaboldi 6-7, 6-2, 6-1. The encounter lasted just under two hours of play.
