NÜRNBERG, April 13, 2018

Germany’s Fed Cup player Julia Görges and two-time champion Kiki Bertens are the top stars of the sixth edition of the Nürnberger Versicherungscup. This was announced on Friday by tournament dircetor Sandra Reichel. The $250,000 WTA International event will be held at the venue of the 1. Fc Nürnberg from 19 to 26 May 2018.

The duo will be joined by six more players ranked inside the top 60 of the WTA rankings: Shuai Zhang of China (WTA 31), Romanians Sorana Cirstea (WTA 34) and Irina-Camelia Begu (WTA 38), as well as Alison van Uytvanck of Belgium (WTA 51), Katerina Siniakova (WTA 54) from the Czech Republic) and Carina Witthöft from Hamburg (WTA 57).

“With Jule and Kiki, two top-players will headline the event. Both reached the final of the high class clay court tournament in Charleston last week and beat some strong players en route to the title match,” said Reichel.

Local favourite Andrea Petkovic and 20-year-old German Katherina Hobgarski were awarded wild cards into the main draw.
