Nino Serdarusic will play his first quarterfinal at ATP Challenger-level on Friday. The 21-year-old from Croatia advanced to the stage of the final eight of the €64,000 Prosperita Open in Ostrava.
Serdarusic knocked off former Top 30-player Lukas Rosol from the Czech Republic in the opening round and led 7-5, 3-0 over Frenchman Vincent Millot on Wednesday before his opponent was forced to retire due to a left shoulder injury.
The Zagreb native clinched three ITF Pro Circuit titles this season, is currently ranked on a career high World No. 241 and will challenge Tomas Brkic from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the quarterfinals of the clay-court event. Brkic fought past Antoine Hong of France 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Gianluigi Quinzi continues his good run of form with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over fellow Italilan Lorenzo Giustino 6-3, 6-2. The 22-year-old Cittadella native clinched his maiden Challenger crown on home soil in Francavilla al Mare last weekend and will next take on Gregoire Barrere from France, who beat Belgian Kimmer Coppejans 6-4, 6-3.
