HEILBRONN, May 11, 2018
Organizers of the NECKARCUP announced on Thursday that Tim Pütz has been awarded a wild card into the main draw of the €85,000 ATP Challenger clay-court event held from 12 to 20 May 2018 in Heilbronn.
The 30-year-old Frankfurt native is currently sitting on a career high World No. 103 in the ATP doubles ranking, being well known as one part of Germany’s Davis Cup tandem with Jan-Lennard Struff. Pütz, however, also achieved some decent results in singles, as he made it to the quarterfinals of the ATP Challenger in Nouméa in January this year and even reached the stage of the final four in Kyoto one month later.
“As we do not only support young talents, but also want to support our German top players, Tim Pütz will get the third wild card from me,” tournament director Metehan Cebeci commented.
German young guns Marvin Möller and Rudolf Molleker received the first two wild cards.
US-American Michael Mmoh as well as Spaniards Adrian Menéndez-Maceiras and Carlos Taberner pulled out of the tournament. The entry list is led by World No. 80 Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic.
