Top Four Seeds Reach Balatonalmádi Open Semi-Finals

BALATONALMÁDI, May 24, 2018

The top four seeds of the Balatonalmádi Open advanced to the semi-final of the third $15,000 ITF Men’s Pro Circuit event of the season held on Hungarian soil. The tournament’s No. 1 Samuel Bensoussan of France battled past local favourite David Szintai 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

The World No. 421 capitalized on four of his 12 break point chances to prevail after two hours and 34 minutes. Bensoussan will next take on third seed Pascal Meis. The 24-year-old German is the defending champion and played a solid match, beating No. 7 seed Bogdan Bobrov from Russia 6-1, 7-6(8). Meis won saved two set points in the tie-break of the second set and finished the encounter after one hour and 45 minutes.

Marko Tepavac eased past Russian teenager Denys Klok 6-4, 6-1. The second seed of Serbia sent down eight aces, winning 84 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in one hour and 30 minutes. Tepavac will next face Mick Lescure of France. The fourth favuorite benefited from the retirement of Tomas Liska from Slovakia leading 6-0, 3-0.
