Dimitar Kuzmanov and Jule Niemeier are the champions of the third edition of the Future Nord held at the Tennisclub an der Schirnau e.V. in Kaltenkirchen.
Kuzmanov defeated local favourite Marvin Möller 6-2, 6-3 in Sunday’s men’s singles final. The No. 2 seed from Bulgaria capitalized on six of his 12 break point chances to prevail in one hour and 42 minutes.
“I am really happy with the week here. Everything went well and I am looking forward to return to Kaltenkirchen next year,” Kuzmanov said afterwards.
Kuzmanov captured his 15th Futures title, his third of the season. The 24-year-old Plovdiv native earns $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.
Niemeier wins first title
In the women’s competition, unseeded Jule Niemeier lifted her first ITF Pro Circuit title. The 18-year-old German upset second seed Vlada Eskhibarova of Israel 7-5, 6-2 in the final.
Niemeier, who is part of Germany’s Porsche Talent Team, outpointed her opponent 76-60 to seal victory after one hour and 39 minutes.
The teenager took away $2,352 in prize money as well as 12 WTA ranking points.
