The entry list for the 30th edition of the € 42.500 ATP Challenger Castilla y León Villa de El Espinar, taking place from August 3 to August 9 on hard court, has been published and 75 players from 30 countries of the five continents are on it.
World number 80 Dustin Brown, who knocked out Rafael Nadal this year in Wimbledon, leads the player’s field. With Matthias Bachinger, he his followed by another German.
Adrián Menéndez-Maceiras, currently ranked on 114th position and last year’s runner-up, will be the tournament’s third seed and only Spaniard who entered the main draw directly. The Spanish hard court specialist has already made it into two ATP Challenger finals this season, in León and Noumea.
There are also a couple of well-known faces traveling to Segovia. Evgeny Donskoy (no. 178), the tournament’s champion in 2012, Konstantin Kravchuk (no. 163), last year’s semi-finalist, Alexander Kudryavtsev (no. 146), semi-finalist and doubles champion in 2014 as well as Swiss Marco Chiudinelli (no. 210), a three time semi-finalist in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
Defending champion Adrian Mannarino will not return to Segovia but the entry list features ten players inside the top 200 and last direct acceptance is at 292nd position, held by Quentin Halys from France. Four wild cards and four qualifiers will complete the field.
