Thiemo de Bakker delighted the home crowd at The Hague Open 2018 by lifting his first ATP Challenger trophy in three years. The 29-year-old from the Netherlands beat top seed Yannick Maden of Germany 6-2, 6-1 in Sunday’s final of the €64,000 clay-court event in Scheveningen.
De Bakker, who entered the main draw with a wild card, saved both break points he faced, capitalizing on four of his own to seal victory in one hour and nine minutes.

The former World No. 40 clinched his 11th ATP Challenger career crown, his first since 2015, and earns €9,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP Ranking points.
Earlier in the day, Ruben Gonzales of the Philippines and US-American Nathaniel Lammons took the doubles title. The No. 4 seeds defeated the third favourites Luis David Martinez of Venezuela and Goncalo Oliveira from Portugal 6-3, 6-7(8), 10-5. The final lasted one hour and 29 minutes.
