KITZBÜHEL, July 28, 2018

Richard Gasquet and Gael Monfils withdraw from the Generali Open in Kitzbühel. Both Frenchmen had to cope with physical problems during the ATP-event in Hamburg this week. They will also miss the start into the American hard-court swing at the ATP Masters in Toronto.

Gasquet pulled out of the Rothenbaum tournament ahead of his second round match against Nicolás Jarry due to left hip injury. Monfils lost to Leonardo Mayer in the second round suffering from a muscle strain.

“I am very sorry to miss the tournament in Kitzbühel. I have heard a lot of nice things about it. I hope to play next year,” Monfils told the organizers in Austria.

“This is really sad news and we wish both players a speedy recovery,” tournament director Alexander Antonitsch commented.

The ATP 250-clay-court event kicks off with the qualifying on Saturday 11 am local time.
