UCLA sophomore Keegan Smith won his fourth match in four days Monday to qualify for the Claremont Club USTA Pro Classic main draw. The event is a $15,000 USTA Pro Circuit event which starts main-draw action on Tuesday.
Smith beat top-seeded Alan Kohen of Argentina, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, in the final round of qualifying on Monday. Also winning qualifying matches and making their way into their main draw were: Laurens Verboven, Adrian Oetzbach, Michael Shabaz, Artur Dubinski, Nicolas Moreno De Alboran, Dragos Ignat and Alexander Cozbinov.
The tournament is the first of three consecutive $15,000 USTA Pro Circuit hard-court men’s events held in Southern California following the US Open.
Joao Lucas Reis Da Silva is the top-seeded player. Henry Craig of Murrieta is ranked just outside the world top 600 and is seeded No. 2. He drew former UCLA star Gage Brymer of Irvine in the first round.
