Four players have completed the main draw of the WOLFFKRAN Open. Johannes Haerteis of Germany, Austrian Alexander Erler, Frenchman Tristan Lamasine and Lukas Klein of Slovkia won their match in Monday’s final round of the qualifying of the €43,000 ATP Challenger event in Ismaning.
Later in the day, James Ward kicked off main draw action. The 31-year-old Briton knocked out the tournament’s No. 7 Quentin Halys of France 6-7(6), 6-3, 7-6(3). Ward withstood 24 aces, hitting 16 of his own to prevail after one hour and 56 minutes. The World No. 224 will next take on either Vaclav Safranek from the Czech Republic or Italian Matteo Viola.
Frenchmen Gleb Sakharov, who defeated Ricardo Ojeda Lara of Spain in straight sets, as well as Benjamin Bonzi, who fought past Belgian Christopher Heyman in three sets, also advanced to the second round.
