Haerteis Leads German Contingent Into WOLFFKRAN Open Quarterfinals

Four German players advanced to the quarterfinals of the WOLFFKRAN Open. Johannes Haerteis emerged victorious from the battle of the qualifiers with Lukas Klein from Slovakia 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 on Thursday afternoon.

Haerteis saved eight of the nine break points he faced, capitalizing on two of his own to prevail after one hour and 47 minutes. The 22-year-old from Nuremberg will next challenge compatriot Daniel Masur, who knocked off Pedro Cachín of Argentina 6-2, 6-2.

Jeremy Jahn beat Louis Wessels 7-6(5), 6-4. In a match between two German wild card entries, the 28-year-old from Munich outpointed his younger opponent 89-73 after one hour and 33 minutes. Jahn will next face Gleb Sakharov of France.

Kevin Krawietz rallied past Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(4) in just under two hours of play to take on Italian Filippo Baldi next.

Ugo Humbert, No. 2 seed and highest ranked player left in the singles draw of the €43,000 ATP Challenger event in Ismaning, continues his great run of form by beating wild card entry Christian Seraphim of Germany 6-3, 6-4.

The reigning Val Gardena Challenger champion broke serve three times to seal victory in 68 minutes. Up next for Humbert, who broke into the top 100 for the first time this week, will be Matteo Viola of Italy.
