BUENOS AIRES, November 19, 2018
Pablo Andújar capped his resurgent 2018 campaign with his fourth title. The 32-year-old Spaniard, who had to undergo three elbow surgeries and started the year being ranked World No. 1,690, clinched the trophy of the Challenger de Buenos Aires presentado por Mostaza. Andújar beat Argentine Pedro Cachín in Sunday’s singles final of the $50,000 ATP Challenger clay-court event 6-3, 6-1.
The current World No. 83 saved eight of the nine break points he faced, capitalizing on five of his own six chances to prevail after one hour and 32 minutes. Andújar didn’t drop a set all week and took away $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points. He also lifted the trophies this season at the ATP Challengers in Alicante and Florence as well as at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech.

Earlier in the day, Guido Andreozzi and Guillermo Duran clinched the doubles title. The No. 2 seeds from Argentina fought past the tournament’s top seeded duo Andres Molteni of Argentina and Brazilian Marcelo Demoliner 6-4, 4-6, 10-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 21 minutes.
